Eddie entered the US Army Air force in September 1942. He graduated from Aviation Cadet School in December 1943. He flew a combat tour with the 356th Fighter Group in the 8th Air Force. He started his career as an Assistant Air Traffic Controller at Richmond, VA Control Tower in September 1948. He transferred to the Norfolk, VA Combined Facility in 1951 and served as Acting Chief at Langley AFB RAPCON for 6 months. He became the first CAA Chief Controller at Otis AFB and in 1959 transferred to the Procedures Division of FAA Headquarters. He served nine years in the Procedures Division and ten years in the Airspace and Air Traffic Rules Division before retiring in 1977. His last position was Assistant Division Chief of the Airspace and Air Traffic Rules Division. After retirement, Eddie served as an Air Traffic Control Consultant with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association in Maryland and with the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL for 10 years. | |
