Start: Born Dallas TX 1920 to Signal Corps (became Air Force) pilot Marion Grevemberg and Catherine Kelley. Lived: New Orleans (father's home), Biloxi MS, El Paso TX, Toledo OH, Shawnee OK, Oklahoma City OK, Ft. Worth TX, Nashville TN, Washington D.C., Miami FL, New York City NY, Pittsburgh PA, Cleveland OH, Vero Beach FL. Flight instruction 1938-1940 with father, then aerial mapping NW Pennsylvania and Michigan. Attended Duquesne University, and College of New Rochelle NY 1939 -1940. Became Joan Michaels Sep 1940. CAF-2 Air Transport Command, DCA. Aug 1942 -Aug 1943. Licensed Private Pilot Sep 1943. Entered WASP training Jan 1944, graduated Aug 1944. Stationed Bryan AAF College Station TX as Instrument Flight Instructor. WASP Disbanded Dec 1944. Commercial Pilot license Mar 1945, "Pop" Cleveland at Cleveland Airport. Ferried surplus trainers throughout 1945 for two fixed-base operators. Entered stewardess training American Airlines Jan 1946. Graduated Feb 1946. On DC-3's to CHI, BNA, MEM, BUF, DCA until resigned Sep 1946 to attend WASP reunion, Piper Aircraft, Lock Haven PA, to ferry Cub to STL. Joined Piper Aircraft Corp. Lock Haven, Asst. Public Relations Pilot/Manager to Jan 1947. Worked non-aviation jobs NYC and PIT until applying for CAA at Youngstown OH 1951. Accepted CAA INSACS CLE Apr-May (?) 1952. Remember few names from CLE: "Barney" McRoberts, Bob Wagner, ___Pivonka (from Alaska). Became Joan Lemley 1954, Transfer PIT ARTCC Jan 1955 - Jan 1956. Start AGC FSS Apr 1958 - Jul 1963. Transfer OKC FAA Academy Jul 1963-Jun 1969. Transfer VRB FSS Jun 1969. Retired Dec 1984 VRB FSS. Start VRB SAWRS (contract weather observations) Nov 1990 - present.
